Who Needs Smartphone When You can Wear Computer as Google (Eye) Glass?

While we already know about terminator styled Google Goggles, Google has already revealed it’s secret Project- Google Glass.
As of now, just a video (at the end of article) about the concept has been released and it has raised many eye-brows about how it could revolutionize and become essential all-in-one gadget in the near future. And may replace Smartphones in your Pocket.
Named as Glasses but Google Glass isn’t actually eye glass but just a frame with small tiny display on the top-right corner of the eye. It surely looks like Eye-Gear though. Just a design concept and final product may vary.
In a video to demonstrate this concept, it was shown that these GLASSES could do almost everything you do with your Handheld Smartphones. Tiny Display acts as if your Mobile Phone screen display with all the features you use day to day.

Starting from Calender, Reminders, Maps (Location Enabled) and even Camera. Also, this display uses Augmented Reality, which may be tied with Google Maps and Location services. A user can walk around with information popping up and into display -Terminator-style- based on preferences, location and Google’s information.
What I Understood?
Google Glass is just another wearable eye glass like frame with super-small computer mounted on it. It does everything for which you carry Smartphone today and I guess it even runs on Android. And for controlling, it has voice control feature similar to Siri by which you can give the command and operate it.
Click Pictures, Update Social network status, Chat with Friends, Organize Calenders, etc. can be done with Voice command enabled by pressing a button on the frame.

It could communicate with cloud over IP for fetching information and might also be using Wi-Fi or low powered Bluetooth 4.0 for data transmission.
What I assumed to Understand?
There must be some hardware at the rear side of frame or mounted on sideways. Reason behind thinking this way is that I still cannot digest the fact that what all I said above could be summed up just into tiny display.
This hardware would include Storage Disk (Agreed that most of the things will be stored and fetched from Cloud but still), Network Antenna (As it is said to act like Phone), Mic and Speaker (reason is obvious).
Display used might be Transparent LCD or AMOLED so that it doesn’t disturb you from communicating with Real world. Also, Internet and GPS connectivity on device is must.
Wouldn’t it distract us from Real World?
Mobile Phones act only when we held them in hand and operate or I can say they are on demand active. Google Glass, however, will continue to give information as you move along even when not in need. Maybe we will have to use the same button to turn off information streaming.
Looking from another perspective, it would actually free us from Technology instead of being stick to it all time. Yes, you won’t have to reach your pockets to take out smartphone just to click a picture, Get Map Directions without looking on to phone display and many more.
When will it be out on Sale for Public?
“Give us time” was the response of Google Co-Founder Sergery Brin when asked about getting the Glasses into the public’s hands by the end of the year.
Well, even I think that, Gadget like this is far from reality but again, I can’t really underestimate the power of technology and its pace of development.
As of now, it is being tested out in the real world by a group of people part of Google [x]. Company might actually release this product as beta-pilot program to people outside of Google.
Till then let us know your views on- whether Google Glasses will substitute Smartphones in the near future. Also, let the Google team know what features you would like to see in it by commenting on their post on Google+.
With your inputs and their developments, one day, it might be able to do more than your current smartphone and act more like Wearable Computer.
